While still a design student, Laura Vela received her first order from Shopbop.com. She was yet to officially open her company. And yet, like many others, scouts from the Online giant saw something special in her eponymous line of handbags. Since that very first order, consumers have been clamoring for her designs. Found at some of the world's most prestigious stores—from department stores in Japan to W Hotels around the world—it's the combination of luxurious design at an unbeatable price point that keeps accessory lovers coming back for more. We caught up with the talented yet humble designer and put her in our Well Heeled Hot Seat. — LauraVela.com

Satins or Sequins? Sequins. From time to time, I wear a sequined leather jacket or blazer and tone it down with something very casual, like a pair of jeans and white t-shirt.
Overdressed or Under-dressed? Overdressed but always keeping it simple and elegant. I like solid pieces with a great cuts and fits. I like classic pieces that are timeless and beautiful in their simplicity.
