What are you listening to right now? I love music and when I’m designing and making jewelry it’s always playing. I listen to a broad range of artists: Bill Withers, Broken Bells, Gorillaz, David Bowie, Grizzly Bear, Stevie Wonder, Black Keys, Alt +J, Sharon von Etten. When I’m driving or taking care of office work I listen to NPR: I’m kind of obsessed with “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me,” “Ask Me Another,” and “Radio Lab”.
What’s one piece of jewelry you never leave home without? Well, it’s never just one piece of jewelry (should I be embarrassed to admit that?). I always wear a pair of earrings, a necklace, and a ring. Right now the Lily studs in 18K gold, Taurus necklace, and Pebble ring always leave home with me. The ring is my worry stone and I roll it between my fingers whenever I’m deep in the creative process or trying to solve a problem.
If you had to choose, would it be gold or silver? It would be gold for sure. It’s got such beautiful depth and warmth of color and it’s just a wonderful material to work with. But I also love silver.
What’s one thing people would never guess about you? I miss wearing heels! Before becoming a jewelry designer I worked in marketing and PR and I wore heels regularly to boost my petite stature and my energy. Now I wear flats so that I can easily run back and forth between my home, studio, and suppliers, all of which are in different parts of Brooklyn and New York.
“Priceless” to you means... Friendship. I am extremely fortunate to have a wonderful circle of smart, passionate, creative, funny, grounded, and supportive friends and I wouldn’t trade a single one for anything. And love: Love is priceless.
