An experimental approach to the art of aesthetic gluttony, we catch up with Pauline of style blog Avant Lard

You're on a first date, what shoe do you wear? This is hard. I guess it depends on the occasion, but I think I'd go with either my prefall '12 Balenciaga oxford boots, my fall '13 Miu Miu lug sole mary janes or my shaded plexiglass (fall '14?) Margiela boots.

What's one fashion rule you always break? My head is always boggled when I see articles about "fashion rules" because they all seem so outrageous and wildly irrelevant to me. Fashion is fun because there are no rules, which is why I adore avant garde designers like Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe, Martin Margiela, Haider Ackermann, hence my blog title "Avant Lard."

When it comes to shoes, how much is too much to pay? I'm a sucker for a good sale (aren't we all?) so you most likely won't see me wearing current season shoes. I think it's good in a way because I'm less likely to hop onto trends I might end up regretting—like Birkenstocks. My max is $700.00.

Who is your favorite shoe designer? Pierre Hardy, especially when he was with Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga. Miuccia Prada, definitely. Her shoes every season for both Miu Miu and Prada are amazing and I love her men's shoes just as much as I love her women's shoes, which is rare. I'm not sure who exactly is/was the shoe designer at Saint Laurent or if it was simply the designers themselves, but consistently from Tom Ford to Stephano Pilati to Hedi Slimane the shoes from that house have been impeccable.

If you were a shoe, what shoe would you be? Literally all the thigh high boots from Dior FW15!
