How did the idea for Beauteque come about? When I was a freshman in high school, I had very bad acne and at the time, I tried all types of skincare products and routines but nothing seemed to work. My friend brought back some skincare products from South Korea and after using them my skin and acne cleared up tremendously. They did so well for me that I wanted to share them with more people in the U.S.

In terms of business, I’ve always been influenced by my family, particularly my mother who is a successful entrepreneur. So, with my love for the products and business, I founded Beauteque.

What makes Beauteque unique? Beauteque carries amazing Korean (Asian) beauty products that are high quality yet affordable. Beauteque carries these items in our retail online store and through our subscription bags, the BB Bag and Mask Maven. These subscription bags guarantee the newest and hottest finds in the industry for a steal.

What’s your personal beauty philosophy? I work very hard to maintain my skin through skincare. I always try to go through a minimum of five steps—makeup remover, cleanser, toner, mask, and lotion—and may go up to ten steps if it is for a special occasion or I’m in the mood. I do this because I believe skincare is not only about maintaining good skin but is something that will help you long term in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and ensuring your skin is smooth and clear.

What’s your biggest beauty pet peeve? My biggest beauty pet peeve is using lipstick that stains. Every girl loves their favorite lip stick, including myself, but it’s very annoying when it smears all over your coffee mug or water bottle. Luckily, there are a few lip products that Beauteque carries that will help this situation.

What exciting plans do you have for 2016? For 2016, I plan to work harder to grow our website customer base and subscription programs. Our team will also begin to prep for our own skincare brand that we plan to launch in 2017. It will be a year of exciting projects and expansion for Beauteque. — Beauteque.com
