Friday morning and the crew from FHI Heat were unstoppable backstage at Bibhu Mohapatra's Great Expectations-inspired AW18 collection. With a carefully selected team of hair stylists from across the country, they created one of this season's most sought after runway looks.

FHI Heat’s Artistic Director and Key Hair Artist Sean James was on hand to walk us through the style that was both understated yet elegant, playing up the elements of symmetry and nostalgia reflected in Mohapatra's latest collection.

While all eyes were on the runway looks, the hair and makeup completed the artistic vision of one of fashion's most likable rising stars. A textured center part anchored Mohapatra's exploration and deconstruction of traditional necklines and silhouettes; long, bouncy waves and natural curls personifying timeless elegance with a dash of rebellion and boldness. "It's a relatable look," the Aussie stylist explained. "An everyday, undressed wave for the confident woman; a woman of the world."

The key to flawless, natural-looking waves? Knowing the difference between smoke and steam, says James. It's one of the reasons he is such a fan of FHI's Platform Curling Iron which is known for its high performing tourmaline ceramic technology; three layers of baked ceramic plates infused with tourmaline produces moisture-locking negative ions that seal in vital moisture, repel humidity, reduce frizz and help eliminate static offering even heat distribution and adjustable professional temperatures. This combined with FHI's Stay Put mega hold hair spray, two behind-the-scenes tips to everyday style off and on the runway. Head to FHIBrands.com for runway how-tos.
