BEJEWELED: LOREN NICOLE

Loren began her career in the museum world, working as a textile conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Her curiosity, propensity for creation and passion for prehistory led her down a natural path to the study of ancient metalsmithing. While in New York, Loren studied with various master goldsmiths specializing in Ancient Greek technology. The construction and precision involved in metlaworking aligned were her conservation skills, allowing her to excel.

After two years of study, Loren realized her passion for jewelry creation, emanating in the birth of LOREN NICOLE. From conception to fruition, each piece is designed and entirely handmade by Loren in her Venice, California studio. Her designs are embedded in ancient aesthetics, bringing a timeless elegance to each work of art. We caught up with the talented designer to talk style, inspiration and bling.

Describe your brand in three words: Texture. History. Craftsmanship.

What is one piece of jewelry you never leave home without? As odd as it seems, I very rarely wear jewelry. After finishing a new piece, I usually wear it all night around the house in my pajamas.

If you had to choose, would it be silver or gold? Gold, always gold. I love the color of high karat gold and even more so, I love how easy it is to shape with my hands.

What is one thing people would never guess about you? I am a surprisingly decent weaver.

Priceless is... Good health and surrounded by people and objects that continually make you smile.
