Ah, New York City, one of our favorite muses. For Spring/Summer 2016, designer Amy Newton of Cultro took it to the streets of NYC for her latest collection. We caught up with the designer to talk style, design and our favorite city.

What materials do you most like to work with? Scuba, Ponte, Novelty and textured.

Where do you draw your inspiration? I like to provide my own take on what a hip, modern, chic woman would wear if she lived in one of these destinations and was from a big city.

What has being a designer taught you about life? It has made me even thicker skinned as a person, and has shown me that if you work hard and truly believe in yourself you can move mountains.

What's been the brand's greatest accomplishment to date? I'd have to say being part of EDIT SHOWS (which is a carefully curated trade show) for Spring 2016 market.

What's in the works for SS16? Spring 2016 is inspired by the iconic New York City. Each piece in the collection represents a different NYC neighborhood, from the vibrant and easy day dresses, to the relaxed “sportif” pieces, to the edgier downtown looks. This collection still infuses the feeling of culture with the addition of the vibrant and spirited prints. —
